Tennessee Challenge Cup
Match—
Memphis, TN
|
Green Meadow members, Ben Long and Ron Waters, qualified to
participate in the Tennessee Challenge Cup Matches, fall 2005,
held at the Ridgeway Country club in Memphis. The tournament consists of
the top sixteen amateurs (which includes six seniors) in the state
playing against the top ten professionals (those earning the most points
in the competitive play).
The tournament format is like the Ryder Cup competition consisting of
18 holes of Four Ball, 18 holes of Alternate Shot, and 18 holes Singles
Matches on Sunday. At the end of day one, the amateurs led the pros 8
1/2 to 7 1/2. However, on Sunday, the Pros pulled out the win with a
score of 20-12…
